The power of approval ratings

It's amazing how, with his approval rating dropping faster than a prom dress, members of the GOP are hesitant to touch Pres. Bush with a 10 foot stack of hanging chads. The most recent example is the GOP's hesitance regarding Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers and her lack of qualifications and predilection towards ambiguity. Some Senators describe "the Supreme Court nominee's answers so far as 'incomplete to insulting.'"
