Blogger wins first amendment case

An anonymous blogger has succesfully been defended in a defamation case. The blogger, identified as John Doe, was being sued for comments made on the "Smyrna/Clayton Issues Blog." The Delaware Supreme Court dismissed the case claiming that "the plaintiffs failed to meet the strict standards required by the First Amendment to unmask an anonymous critic ... This is the first state supreme court to rule on a 'John Doe' subpoena or to address bloggers' rights."
